Local governments are the first responders to extreme weather events and provide the water and urban infrastructure that are foundations for long term climate resilience. Recent floods in KwaZulu-Natal demonstrate how important it is for municipalities to be ahead of the game. The session will explore opportunities for smart response mechanisms to disaster management and innovative ways to build resilience, as well as how Loss and Damage Funds can support responses now and in the future.
