Just Transition Financing Mechanisms – local & international experience

Climate finance mechanisms are comparatively well understood, but mobilising finance for the justice aspects of transitions is nascent. It is important to work with key players in the broader climate finance ecosystem to channel and mobilise funding toward the social and environmental justice elements of low-carbon transitions. This needs a more coordinated approach to channelling funds toward these projects, addressing market failures such as information asymmetry, the lack of just transition indicators and metrics, and developing viable pipelines of just transition projects.
