Event Details

Date and Time: 21 May 2025 11:00am

Category: Stakeholder Engagement

South Africa’s electricity sector is undergoing critical reforms to enable a more efficient, decarbonised, and inclusive energy future. Join the Presidential Climate Commission for a dialogue unpacking how the Electricity Regulation Amendment (ERA) Bill and wholesale market design are reshaping electricity pricing, investment, and system reform.

This session will introduce “market basics,” explore reform risks, and discuss how to align market design with social protection and affordability goals. It will also lay the groundwork for a follow-up dialogue on tariffs, municipal roles, and electricity distribution reform.
