The Presidential Climate Commission established by President Cyril Ramaphosa in December 2020, will hold its First Ordinary Meeting on 18 February, 08h00 – 17h00, at the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) Conference Centre.
The agenda for the meeting includes:
· A discussion on the PCC’s work programme in 2021 and its strategic approach for 2022, Chaired by PCC Deputy Chair Valli Moosa
· Reflections on COP 26, Chaired by Minister Barbara Creecy
· Implementing a Just Transition in South Africa, Chaired by Minister Gwede Mantashe and Commissioner Lebogang Mulaisi
· Pathways to net-zero, Chaired by Commissioners Bobby Peek and Brian Mantlana
· Climate Finance for a Just Transition, Chaired by Minister Pravin Gordhan and Commissioner Setlakalane Molepo
Additional discussions for commissioners’ consideration will include pathways to climate resilience, social mobilisation and communication, and the Commissions governance and institutional arrangements.
