Case Study of Eskom’s JET Flagship: Komati Repurposing

As a companion to the PCC Energy Dialogue on Just Transition Jobs and Skills, the PCC invites you to a webinar showcasing the work that Eskom is doing at Komati Power Station (and elsewhere) to repurpose and repower the existing infrastructure with the installation of solar photovoltaic, natural gas and battery storage systems. Eskom plans to include repurposing initiatives that aim to generate employment by establishing agriculture and aquaponic projects.

This purpose of this event is to:

1. Inform stakeholders on the repurposing of the Komati Power Plant, the flagship project of Eskom’s JET process.

2. Understand the socio-economic impact of repurposing the power plant and the alternative projects employed.

3. Create awareness on reskilling and employment alternatives that can be generated when repurposing the power plant.
