Media Briefing: PCC Recommendations on the Just Energy Transition Investment Plan

The Presidential Climate Commission will held a virtual media briefing on the Just Energy Transition Investment Plan (JET_IP) recommendations report submitted to the President, Cyril Ramaphosa.

The President presented the JET_IP at the special sitting of the Commission on the 4th of November 2022 and requested PCC to conduct public and sectoral consultations on the Just Energy Transition Investment Plan with an intention of making a collective recommendation to the President and to the government in the first quarter of 2023. The commission resolved to lead and support the Presidential Climate Finance Task Team (PCFTT) in further consulting and engaging the various stakeholders on the implementation of the JET_IP.

The Commission concluded its public and sectoral consultations around a Just Energy Transition Investment Plan, covering the necessary sectoral shifts, fiscal realities, and demands, technological innovation, employment opportunities, and climate finance, upholds the development and climate finance principles and obligations that are due to developing countries and as well as conducting independent analysis into climate change impacts on jobs, the economy, and policy.
