The Presidential Climate Commission will host a public colloquium on Teaching, Learning, Research for Skills and Knowledge in the Just Transition.
The event aims to initiate dialogue with the University community and seeks collaboration to broadly to initiate a platform for engagement on how the University can be practical through learning, research, and teaching support the national discourse on the climate change and the just transition.
The Vice Chancellor of the University , Prof Thoko Mayekiso – will official open and officiate the dialogue and the keynote address will be delivered by Mr. Andreas Peschke – German Ambassador to South Africa, Swaziland and Lesotho and Dr Crispian Olver – Executive Director, Presidential Climate Commission as part of PCC and the German Federal Foreign Office ‘Climate Talks’’ project which is aimed fostering domestic and international expert exchanges, networking as well as raising public awareness for climate action.
The panel discussion will explore experiences in various stages of the just transition in addressing socio-economic needs, share insights on approaches to skills needs in the just transitions and explore how we can collaborate with institutions of learning.
