Three Sector Adaptation Readiness Study: Water Value Chain Workshop
Event Details
Date and Time: 29 Oct 2024 07:00am
Category: Colloquiums and Dialogues
The Presidential Climate Commission (PCC), in partnership with the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS), is hosting a Water Value Chain Workshop as part of the broader Three Sector Adaptation Readiness Study. This initiative is aligned with South Africa's Just Transition Framework, focusing on preparing key economic sectors—water, agriculture, and the built environment—for climate resilience and sustainable development.
The study seeks to assess and improve adaptation readiness in these sectors, working closely with stakeholders to identify the necessary actions to accelerate progress. The workshop will play a pivotal role in building consensus on climate-resilient development pathways for the water value chain, supporting the DWS’s updated National Climate Change Response Strategy (NCCRS) for the Water and Sanitation Sector.
The workshop will feature engagements with themes critical to the water sector, including:
- Climate governance and coordination among government and social partners
- Ensuring adequate climate finance flows and capacity building
- Promoting knowledge sharing and addressing social equity in climate adaptation
This workshop offers a unique platform for collaboration, bringing together representatives from key sectors that impact the water value chain to discuss and shape South Africa's climate resilience strategy.
