Overview
The Presidential Climate Commission, in partnership with LCOY South Africa and with generous support from the European Union 🇪🇺, is proud to host the Youth Dialogue & G20 Simulation Workshop — a dynamic, full-day simulation designed to strengthen youth engagement in global climate policy processes.
This unique workshop brings together young climate leaders from across South Africa to step into the roles of international negotiators, practicing real-world diplomacy in the lead-up to two major global events:
-
The G20 Leaders' Summit in Johannesburg
-
COP30 in Belém, Brazil
Workshop Themes
Participants will engage in interactive sessions and a high-level negotiation simulation focused on:
- Climate diplomacy & multilateral negotiations
- International cooperation for sustainable development
- Youth-led solutions for a just transition
This event aims to bridge the gap between grassroots climate action and global decision-making, equipping youth with the tools, insights, and confidence to participate meaningfully in international forums.
Strategic Importance
This workshop takes place at a critical moment in the global climate calendar. As host nations of key multilateral events in 2025, South Africa and Brazil are aligning their climate and development agendas — creating a unique opportunity for youth to engage with real-world policy dynamics and contribute to shaping a just, inclusive future.
Part of a Global Youth Movement
This initiative is hosted under the banner of LCOY South Africa 2025 and is:
- An official cycle partner of Urban 20 (U20)
- Endorsed by the Youth 20 (Y20)
- Part of YOUNGO, the official youth constituency to the UNFCCC
