Jürgen Olivier

Jürgen helps to coordinate modelling projects and initiatives in the Mitigation Team of the Presidential Climate Commission (PCC) Secretariat. This includes supporting the work of the scientific community that apply themselves to modelling aspects of South Africa’s Just Transition, by helping to build a platform for this community to share, integrate and further their research. Ultimately, this is to aid the PCC’s Commissioners in gaining a holistic view of the most up-to-date and robust scientific research available on related policy questions.

Jürgen’s experience as a mechanical engineer (Pr.Eng, MBA, MSc.Eng) enables him in these endeavours. He is professionally registered and holds two post-graduate degrees, also having applied himself to the development of environmentally friendly refrigeration systems (such as transcritical R744 systems), consulting in the built-environment, and the design of heat transfer equipment for the industrial, commercial and retail sectors.
