Mandy Jayakody

Mandy provides expert technical guidance and project support of the workstream to advance the PCC’s Just Urban Transition strategy and workplan toward a low-carbon economy. This includes higher adaptative capacity, smart management of loss and damage with a higher climate resilience.

She holds a BSc Hons in Industrial Microbiology from the University of KwaZulu-Natal UKZN and a Masters in Engineering from WITS. Mandy’s key areas of expertise are Climate Change Adaptation with a focus on the built environment and innovative financing of projects. Mandy has through her 20 plus year career worked as a consultant in South Africa, United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.

Mandy participated in the Technical Working Groups: Stakeholder Engagement and Reporting and Corporate Citizenship and Sustainability, for the development of King IV Report of Corporate Governance and on the Technical Working Group for Green Star Public & Education (PEB) Tool. She is also a Green buildings council of South Africa Green Star Accredited Professional.

Her work has been presented at the University of Oxford’s Government Outcomes Labs, Social Outcomes Conference focusing on impact investment in the affordable housing space and in green outcomes funding of Small Medium and Micro Enterprises. In 2018 she was awarded the Women in Concrete and Construction Young Entrepreneur Rising Star at the African Construction Awards and in the same year was a finalist in the Standard Bank Top Women Awards for the Infrastructure category. Prior to joining the PCC, Mandy was the Project Lead for the University of Cape Town’s Bertha Centre on the Green Outcomes Fund.
