Mbulaheni Mbodi

Mr Mbulaheni Mbodi was appointed to the Presidential Climate Commission as a Commissioner in December 2020, representing NUMSA. He is a member of NUMSA and is also the National Secretary of the National Shop Stewards Council IN ESKOM. He has been a member of the Research Development Group (Participatory Research) in NUMSA – which has been dealing with all energy and climate change issues since the mid-2000s.

Mr Mbodi is the current Chairperson of the Sub-Saharan Energy Network which is the energy network of unions that includes both NUM and NUMSA – affiliated with the IndustriALL Global Union International Federation.

He also serves as a member of:

• The Task Team in NUMSA dealing with energy and climate change issues; and
• The Eskom Research Reference Group together with NUM – this Group drafted a document called “Eskom Transformed, achieving a Just Transition for South Africa” a collaborative work between NUMSA, NUM, TUED and AIDC.
