Simphiwe Ngwenya

Simphiwe is a Senior Manager: Mitigation in the Presidential Climate Commission Secretariat, responsible for Climate Mitigation. In this role she coordinates and oversees the technical mitigation work of the PCC by guiding the strategic direction of the unit, project managing the workstreams of the unit, supporting the modelling aspects of the commission work and leading the financial and contract management of the unit.

Simphiwe is a professionally registered environmental scientist (SACNASP) who holds an MSc Degree in Environmental Sciences from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She is experienced in stakeholder engagement and management and the implementation of high impact climate change mitigation and adaptation projects that address climate risk and vulnerability in communities, private and public sectors.

Simphiwe has a strong passion for climate risk mitigation and adaptation which is mostly linked to responsible behaviour by organisations and building the resilience of societies whilst ensuring equitable justice and reduced climate physical risk.
