Zama Khanyile

Ms Khanyile is a qualified Chartered Accountant with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA). She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting from the Rand Afrikaans University, a B.Com Honours degree in Accounting from the University of Johannesburg, a Certificate in the Theory of Accounting (CTA) from the same university, and she completed an Emerging Markets Certificate with Fordham University (New York).
Ms Khanyile has over 17 years of experience which spans accounting, external audit, finance, investments, and strategic leadership. Her career started at KPMG as an article clerk and progressed to post-articles, she has worked for the Industrial Development Corporation where she participated in transactions across the African continent. She subsequently joined the National Empowerment Fund (NEF) as the uMnotho Fund Manager and served in this role until May 2021 when she began acting as the Divisional Executive: Venture Capital & Corporate Finance, a role she was officially appointed to on the 01st of October 2021.
As a Divisional Executive, she leads and oversees the investment and strategic activities of the Strategic Projects Fund, uMnotho Fund, and the Women Empowerment Fund. She is the Chairperson of the NEF’s Third-Party Funds Investment Committee which is tasked with supporting South Africa’s economic reconstruction and recovery plan by providing funding through funding partnerships that cut across key sectors of the economy.
Ms Khanyile is the past President of African Woman Chartered Accountants (AWCA). She was listed by the Mail & Guardian as one of the Top 200 Young South African in 2019. She is a Choiseul Africa Laureate, a French institution that recognizes 100 Africans under 40 that set to contribute to the economic development of the continent and was ranked SAICA's top 35 - under – 35 Chartered Accountants.
